Return of the Spirit Dragon

So yeah, here's another dragon. My last piece of fan art left people thinking that the dragon depicited was Ugin, the Spirit Dragon. It, however, was his arch nemesis Nicol Bolas. So to make up for any disappointment that may have arised, here's the real Ugin. Also I enjoyed the challenge of drawing and coloring a ghostly dragon :)

Like the Artificer faced the Dragon

Hey gang, long time no see. I'm sorry for leaving you for so long without any updates from my side, but I just haven't had a lot to show off with for some time. Now I have, so here it is! Actually it's a piece of fan art, but I'll leave it to you guys to find out what exactly it is about! Cya guys soon!

The last two Bok strips and new Pages stuff

And just like that it was almost November... I could write a bit about how long ago it has been since my last post, but I'm sure you all noticed that by yourselves. Anyway. I've got A LOT to show you guys.

First of all, the last two Bok & Buurman Bas strips. Due to internal issues, Bureau Bok can no longer provide me with news to poke fun at, so until further notice the comic's on hold. It's been a great run however and I hope to do business with them again sometime in the future.

Second: it has finally happened. A year after the second issue, Pages is BACK. Thicker, stronger and better than ever!

In this issue I'm starting a totally new fantasy-themed series, named Pawns. It's gonna be a big and epic story, which means I'm gonna have to draw a lot of pages for the next coupla issues... Because the 8 I did for this one just won't do. Oh, and SPOILERS:

Boys In War

Hey gang, remember how a bajillion years ago I posted this trailer for a certain video project my old classmate Didier Konings was working on? The one he asked me to help write? The one he had me* and a LOT of other actors ride all over the country for?

Well, apparently he put it online for everyone to see. So it is my (slightly guilty) pleasure to present to you all: the full version of Boys In War. Spread the word, tell a friend, tell 'em the tale. Oh, and enjoy the show.

*FYI, I'm mostly background filling in the movie. It was for the best.

More Dutch stuff!

Haven't had time to upload some more Bok & Buurman Bas stuff here (the upper strip has been on Facebook for quite some time, though), so here's two strips in one post.
The upper one's about how youth prefers to read from screens rather than paper, the lower is about getting enough sleep and how computers don't help you get it.

Bok & Buurman Bas - part 6

Annnnd a new one. Actually, this one has been out there on Facebook for a while now, but I haven't had time yet to post it here. This one is about burn-outs becoming an increasing problem for people in their late twenties/early thirties. Scientists blame it on social pressure.

Bok & Buurman Bas - part 5

Dutch-alert, but of course you already knew that. Research has proven that multilingual children are more able to handle multiple tasks at the same time than others.

Bok & Buurman Bas - part 4 (Dutch-alert)

And the Facebook saga for Bureau Bok goes on! This one's about nagging at schools and the gouvernment trying to interfere, as the schools'  approach doesn't always work.

Bok & Buurman Bas - part 3 (Dutch-alert)

The third strip of the Facebook comic I'm doing for Bureau Bok. It's about this organisation that helps kids who sat through their sentence in juvenile hall get a job. You can click it to enlarge it, but of course you already knew that.

By the way, until further notice Bok & Buurman Bas will only appear bi-weekly. Bureau Bok supplies me with news to make the comics about and they had trouble fitting that into a weekly schedule.

Bok & Buurman Bas - part 2 (Dutch-alert)

The second installment of my weekly comic for Bureau Bok's Facebook page.
For you Pages readers out there, spot the cameo!

Weekly Comic (Dutch-alert)

A few weeks ago I've been asked by Bureau Bok to do a weekly comic for them. Today the first one went live, and (hopefully) many wil follow on their Facebook page! Check it out right here!

100 Things... - About frickin' time.

Aaaaannnnd... we're back. Sorry for the complete lack of new art here, see the post below for an explanation.

Nothing much else to say on this one. Smug turtle is smug. Oh, and everything looks funnier with a rocket strapped to its back.

Pages

Yes, I know there's been some radio silence lately. BUT, it was for a VERY good reason. Ladies and gentlemen, I proudly present the magazine Pages.
Pages contains stories by me and eight other artists, among whom our favorite co-blogger Caroline and Eternal Hero Michael Lewerissa, who not only drew the longest story but also got the whole thing published.

Plans are to first go and sell the mag at Abunai (one of Hollands best-known anime-conventions), and after that it'll be available to the lot of you. More details on that will follow.

P.S. The magazine actually looks tons better than the picture gives it credit for. The photo was taken with my crappy mobile phone cam and totally doesn't capture the mag's Awesomeness AT ALL.

Seriously, one of these days I'll give Henry a blog of his own. For now, see DeviantArt for the rest of his story!

Henry!

And... disaster struck.

There's a lot more to tell on this page, but as I already said it all over there at DeviantArt, you might as well go read it there. Speaking of DeviantArt, here are the other pages as well!

*Too lazy to type the same story twice*

Henry!

Another new page of Henry's life. Nothing much to say on this particular page, except that the Irish Wok is a mixture of two places I've spent a lot of time at in the past years.

Read the previous two pages here, the first two there, or (for your own convenience) follow the comic at DeviantArt.

100 Things... - Fashion statement

And that marks 25 Things I Think About (so you don't have to). To celebrate the fact that we're at a quarter of the series, here's a full 4 panel comic, instead of the usual cartoon!

So now let's see how long it'll take me to draw the other 75...

Look, I got published!

The lower half of the last page of School!Week's February issue. School!Week is a magazine that's distributed at all kinds of public schools throughout the country. And guess what, that cartoon is totally my work! I'm really pleased with the way it came out, even though someone put the wrong name in the colophon. The commission for this cartoon was sent to the company I work at, and because of that someone put my boss's name there instead of mine. D'oh!

Anyway, for those who want to see a bigger version, below's the original JPEG. For your entertainment.

Henry!

Once more, click the images for full-scale impact.

And at long last our hero Henry returns. Who? HENRY! To be fair, the first of above two pages has been there on Facebook for ages, but it just wouldn't feel right to post it here without the company of the other page. It'd leave so many things unexplained.

Anyway, just like I told you guys the other day when I posted the 100 Things... cartoon, more is sure to follow, so while you're here, why not tell me what you think?

100 Things... - Half-empty bottle

Yes people, 100 Things... is totally still a thing! Once more life has shown this pesky habit of getting in the way of everything, so I had to put things on hold again.

I made a New Year's resolution not to promise anything about when I put art online anymore, but rest assured that we're gonna have a lot more of these this year! Stay tuned!!!
